The Atal Incubation Centre – Social Alpha was set up by Tata Trusts’ Foundation for Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship (FISE) under the flagship initiative of NITI Aayog named ‘Atal Innovation Mission’ (AIM). FISE promotes socially relevant innovations and entrepreneur with a mission to create large scale sustainable social impact helping them create high quality, commercially viable, accessible, and affordable solutions.
AIC Social Alpha was set up to foster innovations in the Climate, Health, and Livelihoods sectors. It has been developed with the vision to create a one-stop collaborative platform to support early-stage enterprises through their entire product life cycle.
The AIC is designed to offer end-to-end incubation support to early-stage start-ups and entrepreneurs, who have the potential to bring deep social and environmental impact through their market creating innovations. AIC supports its incubatees by providing extensive support through its ‘Lab-to-Market’ journey.

Techtonic
AIC Social Alpha is established to focus on the Cleantech domain including but not limited to the challenges in Energy,
Waste Management, Agriculture and Allied sectors.
AIC Social Alpha conducted a challenge, Techtonic – Innovations in Waste Management jointly with H&M Foundation, in collaboration of the Saamuhika Shakti. It envisions to create an enabling ecosystem stack for innovators and entrepreneurs developing solutions to accelerate waste management and improve the overall quality of life of the informal sector in India. Over 150 applications were received, and 04 startups were onboarded. The problem statement focused on Network Optimization, Data for Waste Management and Waste to Value.
The challenge invited renewable energy, energy efficiency and clean energy access solutions.
from all stages of the energy lifecycle, and across all use cases, there is a special focus on four themes – Energy for Livelihoods, Smart Energy Systems, Energy Storage and Thermal Comfort. More than 75 applications were received, and 07 startups were onboarded.
Accelerating growth due to industrialization and urbanization has not only improved the economy but has also deteriorated human health, environment, and ecosystem. The India Clean Air Challenge addressed this dual set of challenges. ICAC as a program furthers the cause of National Clean Air Program and aims to seek and support scalable innovations with a sub sectoral lens mitigate the air pollution crisis. The problem statement was multi-fold, focusing on Agriculture and Livestock, Industrial Decarb, Construction Waste and Air Quality Monitoring. 05 startups were onboarded from over 50 applications.
This initiative will guide six high-quality startups, having at least a tested prototype, an accelerate their journey through product engineering and development services, clinical validation support, regulatory advisory, and market access opportunities through grant support and catalytic cross-industrial collaborations. The problem statement aimed at finding solutions through Digital Health and Oncology. 180 applications were received, and 05 startups were onboarded.
